Vermeer previews prototype machine at ConExpo 2026

The company, exhibiting at booth S61422 in the South Hall, said its line-up is focused on productivity, transportability and operator usability.

On display will be the SM55 surface miner – weighing 120,000 lb (54,431 kg), the machine is designed to be transported as a single load on a standard trailer without disassembly. Vermeer said this allows contractors to move more easily between quarry sites compared with traditional surface mining equipment.

Also on display will be the new VXT400 and VXT500 vacuum trucks. The company said the models are based on customer feedback from previous hydrovac machines and feature dual digging capability, 70 dB(A) operating noise levels and a patent-pending camera system with boom reach overlay.

Vermeer will also present its next-generation ML-series mini loaders, which it said offer enhanced hydraulic performance and improved operator comfort.

In the utilities segment, the company plans to highlight its D24 horizontal directional drill, which incorporates automated rod exchange (ARE) technology, alongside integrated microtrenching solutions for urban fibre installation.

Vermeer added that it will also provide an exclusive preview of a prototype machine developed through a partnership project.
