It is a year of interesting sponsorships for Visa SpA, which after the experience of the recent 2021 Alpine World Ski Championships in Cortina d’Ampezzo (Italy) now participates as Official Supplier to the prestigious Giro d’Italia cycling race, taking place in stages from 8th to 30th May.

Visa takes part in partnership with engine distributor Bimotor delivering two gen-sets type F103 GX VM, with 100 kVA output and designed to operate in parallel between them. They have been developed according to following requirements: minimize the environmental impact thanks to the engines compliant with the most stringent current regulations and granting low noise levels thanks to special canopies that allow a perfect integration in the urban environment as well as sharing the spirit of this sporting event.

Visa supplies gen-sets to Giro d'Italia cycling race

The Visa gen-sets will power different structures during the cycling race: from the arrival arch at the Finish Line to the display boards, the LEDs and the lights, including the timepieces. The specific areas dedicated to the press rooms and the award ceremony podium are also covered, including all those events that require high-level energy support.

Bimotor, distributor of FPT engines, has a particular reason to celebrate this partnership, in fact the company’s founder Giovanni Brunero won the Giro d’Italia in 1921.

The history of Giovanni Brunero recounts that he was a sport champion who never basked in the fame he could have enjoyed. After the victory of the Giro d’Italia, he rode his bike back home alone, unaware that a cheering crowd had gathered at the local train station along with the mayor and other officials. When he learned of the awaiting committee, it is said that he rode his bike back to the next train station and took the first train home to not let his fellow citizens down.

It is quite fascinating that the FPT Industrial’s engines distributed by Bimotor now power the same event that the company’s founder won exactly 100 years ago.
