Fifth annual event takes place in Louisville in September

What will power tomorrow’s on- and off-highway equipment? It’s a question that gets asked every day, and the catalog of options available to today’s engineers has never been greater.

As part of his keynote address during the fifth annual Diesel Progress Summit, Darren Tasker, vice president of Industrial Sales for Volvo Penta of the Americas, will talk about those options, including the role low- and zero-carbon fuels will play when it comes to extending the useful life of the internal combustion engine.

engines Volvo Penta's Darren Tasker will be a keynote speaker at the 2023 Diesel Progress Summit.

Tasker oversees development of the Volvo Penta’s power generation and off-road versatile equipment segments within North and Central America and the Caribbean. He joined the company in 1996 as area account manager and internal sales engineer. Tasker has also served as UK industrial sales manager, off- highway project director for Europe; and director of industrial business for the Americas.

Originally from the United Kingdom, he earned an MBA degree from Middlesex University.

The Diesel Progress Summit will take place Sept. 24-25, 2023, at the Galt House in downtown Louisville, Ky. (the event has been moved downtown from the previously announced venue, the Crowne Plaza Louisville Airport Expo Center). The summit includes a unique one-day conference and awards program for the engine, powertrain and emerging power technology industries exploring powertrain technologies used in construction, agriculture, mining, forestry and marine, as well as on-highway commercial vehicles.

The theme of this year’s Summit is “Technologies of Transition.” Topics will include an update on battery technology, fuel cells’ use in power generation, balancing the energy transition and more. Roundtable discussions will highlight low- and zero-carbon fuels and advances in hydrogen combustion engines.

A further highlight of the event will be the annual Diesel Progress Summit Awards, which celebrate excellence and innovation.

The 2023 Summit follows four successful events and is intended for machine and vehicle OEMs, equipment owners, engine manufacturers and distributors, and component and powertrain suppliers.
