Volvo Trucks North America, UAW reach tentative agreement

Volvo Trucks North America announced that the company and the United Auto Workers union reached a tentative agreement on the terms of a new five-year contract that would cover approximately 2900 employees at the New River Valley (NRV) truck assembly operations in Dublin, Va.

In conjunction with the tentative agreement, the UAW has ended its strike against the NRV plant, effective 7 a.m. on April 30, 2021. Production was scheduled to resume on Monday, May 3.

Further comment on the proposed agreement is being withheld pending ratification by the members of UAW Local #2069. Ratification meetings are being scheduled by the UAW.

The job action began April 17 after a 30-day contract extension expired.

The Volvo Group is the only heavy-duty truck manufacturing group that assembles all of its trucks and engines for the North American market in the United States. The NRV plant employs more than 3300 people, about 2900 of whom are UAW members.
