VW Invests In E-Vehicles In Brazil
09 December 2019
VW will invest US$27 million (R$110.8 million) for the expansion of its electric business in Brazil, said Roberto Cortes, president and CEO of the company in the South American country. The investment will be used for the adaptation of the development center and the production facility of buses and trucks in Resende, Rio de Janeiro state, and for assembling the e-Delivery vehicle.
In 2019, 17 prototypes of the e-Delivery went through validation tests. The beginning of production is foreseen for the second half of 2020.
“We are very advanced in the design of our electric portfolio,” said Cortes. “We’ve reached great maturity with the electric modular concept, which will allow us to deliver the operational performance demanded by our clients.”
The testing facility of Volkswagen is believed to be among the most comprehensive in the continent, covering 35 500 m2 and with the ability to test 26 different conditions.
