Weichei shows new inverter and controller units at IAA Transportation

Along with a selection of its latest battery packs, Weichai has presented its new Vectopower Evo inverter and the multi-in-one integrated controller at IAA Transportation 2026.

Intended for heavy trucks or construction machinery, the inverter is billed as offering high precision, fast response and cost-effectiveness.

The ARM+FPGA architecture enables a 2 μs (microsecond, which is a millionth of a second) control cycle and peak efficiency of greater than 99%.

Weichai reported that under the China Heavy-Duty Commercial Vehicle Test Cycle (CHTC), energy consumption was 1.65% lower than products in the same category.

In addition, the unit delivers a torque response time less than 10 milliseconds (a millisecond is one thousandth of a second), with a control accuracy of around 2.0%

The Vectorpower Evo inverter supports CAN, CANopen and RS-232 communication interfaces.

Moving on to the WMC-L/H/B controller, key features include a multi-core chip that integrates MCU, PDU and BDU into a single unit to achieve new levels of integration and performance.

This allows the main power module to incorporate the driver board, power module (compatible with both IGBT and SC), and bus capacitor. The module further combines two DC/AC converters and a DC/DC converter.

The controller comes as standard with systems to support safety and cybersecurity to ensure a secure driving experience.

The controller is intended for light- and heavy-duty truck applications.
