XCMG announces lithium rental and charging partnership

XCMG has partnered with Chinese rental company Zhongneng United Rental and battery charging specialist Ronghe Finance Leasing to design and produce lithium-ion batteries for access equipment, as well promoting onsite charging solutions.

Zhongneng United Rental is one of the largest three access equipment rental companies in China, with a fleet of more than 30,000 MEWPs. Ronghe Electric Leasing, owned by State Power Investment, a Chinese government-owned company, specialises in lithium-ion battery charger and conversion solutions, covering on-highway vehicles, ships and construction equipment, including access machines.

Qianjin Li, general manager of XCMG Access, said the cooperation bewteen the three companies would cover the full production and service chain required for lithium battery-powered aerial platform products. “XCMG will join hands with both companies to integrate our multiple resources to expedite the process of our national strategy - Oil to Electricity.”

Tianli Yang, CEO, Zhongneng United Rental, said it would focus on its experience of how equipment is used in the field to improve electric-powered machine design, along with wider digital offerings. The aim is to provide lithium batteries that last the lifetime of the machine, while focusing on total cost of ownership.

Xubao Liu, vice president of Ronghe Electric Leasing, explained that the partnership reflected the direction being taken by companies across China, as part of the country’s green energy strategy. The deal with XCMG and Zhongneng United will see the company explore and develop on-site charging services with the aim of realising full electrification of the aerial platform industry in China.
