XCMG expands connected equipment platform

XCMG has launched intercontinental service capabilities for its Xrea global internet of vehicles (IoV) platform, marking a new phase in the Chinese manufacturer’s international digitalisation strategy.

The platform was developed by subsidiary XCMG Hanyun and first unveiled at Bauma 2025.

The construction machine OEM’s rollout enables initial cross-continental connected equipment services for dealers and customers, it said.

The system is designed to shift XCMG’s globalisation strategy from product export to “service export” and “digital export.”

Built on a unified data and business management system, it connects manufacturers, dealers, divisions, and customers while offering end-to-end compliance solutions for Chinese companies expanding overseas.

XCMG said the platform prioritises data security, with localised or Edge-based storage, on-premises deployment, and physical network isolation to prevent data exposure. The company obtained ISO 27001 certification in 2022 and introduced a compliance support system that adapts to international regulations. Xrea also incorporates a global fault code library and equipment health management system, enabling predictive maintenance and early warning functions. XCMG said this will improve aftermarket services and enhance the intelligence of global equipment management.

Three internet of things (IoT) hardware terminals developed in-house have entered mass production and are certified in nine regions, including the EU, North America, and Southeast Asia. Training and demonstration sessions have been conducted in 14 regions worldwide, in partnership with XCMG’s International Business Headquarters, to familiarise dealers and customers with the platform.

Phase II development is under way, with additional nodes planned in the Middle East and Latin America to extend the system’s global reach.
