Chinese construction equipment manufacturer Zoomlion is now using dozens of humanoid robots in its factories, with a specialised facility that harnesses AI now able to produce an excavator every six minutes.

Zoomlion, based in Changsha, China, said that its Zoomlion Smart City, which brings together 12 smart factories and over 300 production lines can also produce a scissor lift every 7.5 minutes, a concrete pump every 27 minutes, and a truck crane every 18 minutes.

The firm said it is integrating artificial intelligence (AI) in four key areas of its business: AI with construction machinery; AI plus intelligent manufacturing; AI plus intelligent management; and AI plus embodied-intelligence robots. It is also scaling humanoid robots as its “third growth curve”, backed by proprietary hardware-software integration.

It has been expanding embodied-intelligence robotics since 2024 and robots are now being used in factories for tasks like loading and unloading, pre-assembly, and quality inspection. Zoomlion said the tasks form “early productivity use cases”.

The development of the robots is supported by a training ground with over 100 workstations and largescale datasets to enable “rapid iteration” of human-robot collaboration.

Meanwhile, the company said it is developing specialised robots for industries including construction, agriculture, mowing, and firefighting.

“With deep integration across hardware, AI models, and real-world scenarios, the company is positioning embodied intelligence as its next major growth engine,” it said in a press release.
