Designed to build and maintain haul roads for truck fleets of 100 tonnes and up, the GD955-7 has a 426-hp engine that runs at 1900 rpm. It weighs 47,320 kg and has an 5.5-m standard moldboard with an extended 6.1-m option.

“Despite its large size, the GD955-7 offers excellent manoeuvrability,” said Komatsu. “It can execute tight U-turns on a standard 100-tonne class haul road without the need to fully cut the wheel or course correct. The long wheelbase and large, 27-degree articulation angle allow a tight turning radius and provide manoeuvrability for narrow haul road applications in confined spaces and around obstacles.”

One of the machine’s newest features is a circle bearing that allows precise rotation of the moldboard while eliminating the need for circle play adjustments or replacing wear plates. The company said this innovation promotes “long-life” and reduces “planned and unplanned maintenance downtime while helping to extend life to overhaul.”
