HG to launch electric dumper at IRE show

Danish site dumper manufacturer HG Machines will use the International Rental Exhibition (IRE) in Maastricht in June to launch a 2 tonne capacity electric dumper.

The HG E2000, which follows the company’s 1 tonne electric model introduced five years ago, has a claimed duty cycle of 12 hours and can be charged to full in 3.5 hours or up to 80% battery capacity in 2 hours.

HG Machines, which has been producing construction equipment for 25 years and also makes petrol powered 1 tonne models, said the HG E2000 had been tested by selected contractors and that it had already received orders for 25 machines.

“We are delighted and proud that we have been able to launch such an innovative machine”, said Nikolaj Birkerod, Managing Director of HG, “We have over five years of experience with 100% electric, 1 tonne dumpers, so we see it as our objective to help drive the electric, emission-free transition.

“We do this by developing more electrical innovations that enable the construction companies to reduce emissions, especially in bigger cities around the world,”

The dumper has an internal charger that can connect to a regular car charger, using a 16A current, or via 220V EU plug. It has total four-wheel drive, including individual torque on all wheels, making it off-road capable.

Birkerod said it was the company’s ambition to create a machine with a low cost of ownership; “This has been our goal with the thousands of 1 tonne ‘Super Skub’ dumpers that drive around Europe. Of course, this must be the case with our 100% electric 2-tonne dumper. As such, we have tested it and ensured that it lives up to our highest quality standards,”

The HG E2000 will be just one of the electric, compact machines on display at the ERA show in on 6-8 June, in Maastricht, The Netherlands. IRE will be co-located with the APEX aerial platform show, which will also have dozens of electric machines on display.

For details of the two exhibitions, and to register in advance, visit the IRE and APEX websites.

The European Rental Association (ERA) also holds its annual convention during IRE and APEX, on 7 and 8 June. See here for details.
