Power Briefing recap: week of Jan. 20

January’s nearly over, and it feels like the year’s already in full swing. Here’s what you might have missed this week in Power Briefing:

  • At the AEM Annual Conference, industry leaders from ZQuip, CNH, and Linamar emphasized that listening to customers is key to finding the right alternative power solutions. Linamar CEO Linda Hasenfratz noted that customers want better efficiency and lower costs, highlighting the importance of customer insights in shaping decarbonization efforts
  • Lister Petter, a brand with a storied history in power solutions, is charting its comeback under new ownership. The company is reintroducing itself to the market with a mix of fresh and legacy engine models while investing in new facilities in the UK.
  • CES 2025 revealed the growing presence of off-highway equipment innovation. Power Progress’ Becky Schultz explored trends in electrification, autonomy, and AI that are reshaping off-highway equipment technology.
  • Volvo is advancing its autonomous freight transport goals. Its recent collaboration with DHL in Texas signals a larger goal for VNL Autonomous Truck and Aurora Driver technology to provide scalable solutions for the freight industry.

In other news, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) has withdrawn a clean fleets rule exemption, Hino has been fined $1.6 billion in the US for falsifying engine emissions data, and John Deere unveiled a new lineup of marine engines.
