The new Endurant HD V is designed for vocational truck applications with maximum gross combination weight ratings of 70,000 lb. (32,000 kg) using 9 L, 11 L and the upcoming Cummins X10 engines. Maximum engine torque is 1,700 lb.-ft. (2,300 Nm).

Features of the new AMT include:

  • an extreme-duty clutch for improved low-speed maneuvering,
  • a Rock Free feature to help get unstuck in mud or sand,
  • an Off-highway Performance Goal mode that automatically tunes the transmission for optimum performance in changing soil conditions,
  • and dual power takeoff (PTO) openings to power hydraulic systems.

It also includes a hill start aid feature for enhanced launch performance on grades, smooth shifting and gear selection logic. A new Secondary Configuration mode provides the ability to toggle between two performance goals, which Eaton Cummins said optimizes the transmission shift points and clutch calibration and allows for a tailored driving experience that accounts for the load or terrain.

The Endurant HD V has a twin-countershaft design and an all-aluminum housing. Its standard 8-bolt bottom and 4-bolt rear PTO mounting locations offer a combined 95-hp capacity.

To maximize reliability, the transmission offers fluid temperature and pressure sensor alerts, a Precision Lubrication System and a 250,000-mile lube change interval. IntelliConnect remote diagnostics also help to increase uptime by reducing unplanned downtime and enabling quicker repair diagnosis.
