Russia’s Power Machines said it has produced the first set of rotor discs for the domestically produced GTE-170 gas turbine
The turning of the compressor and turbine discs has been completed in full and the control results confirmed the compliance of the disc geometry with the requirements of the design documentation, the company said.
The final stage of work on the rotor discs is the processing of grooves for attaching the blades. To carry out this stage of work, the company purchased new equipment and carried out pilot work on the development of milling technology with the participation of specialists from the All-Russian Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM).
The production of gas turbines GTE-65 and GTE-170 is being carried out at the Leningrad Metal Plant of Power Machines. In the project of creating completely domestic gas turbines by Power Machines, three production sites, 1645 pieces of equipment are involved. The company is implementing 48 investment projects to retrofit production for the manufacture of gas turbines. The total investment in the retrofitting of production exceeds 4 billion rubles.
Power Machines started to develop a domestic line of power gas turbines of two standard sizes – GTE-65 and GTE-170 – in 2018. Since then, a design bureau has been created, design documentation has been developed, design work is underway.
