10 October 2019

At the Agritechnica show, Liebherr will exhibit the new MDC3 digital smart camera and DC5 customizable display family.

The MDC3 digital smart camera promises to be a helpful tool for operators of mobile machines, who have to deal with a harsh working environment and often in direct sunlight. Alexander Bertsch, head of the Sensor Technology Product Line at Liebherr-Elektronik GmbH explained that this camera features a sophisticated High Dynamic Range (HDR) algorithm and a high range of contrast, so the driver retains a clear view even in very dark or extremely bright lighting conditions.

The HDR functionality provides a residual light sensitivity of 1 millilux and a contrast range of 132 dB, delivering high-contrast images even in extremely difficult lighting conditions. The MDC3 also offers lens correction to eliminate fisheye effect; digital zoom to view a desired area and thus observe better the work progress; and multicasting, for the image to be shown simultaneously on several display devices.

The MDC3 can also be used as an optical image sensor and provides also edge images and optical flow – important functionalities for the implementation of assistance systems.

To form a complete camera monitoring system, the camera can be utilized together with Liebherr’s fifth generation DC5 display controllers featuring i.MX6 processor and Linux/Yocto software environment.

Both camera and display controllers are certified for demanding operating conditions: the MDC3 camera according to IP6K9K international protection standard, while the DC5 controller according to IP65.

Liebherr will exhibit at Agritechnica in Hall 16, Stand C41.
