Alamo To Buy Dutch Power Company
21 February 2019
Alamo Group Inc. has entered into an agreement to acquire 100% of the outstanding capital shares of Dutch Power Company B.V. a privately held equipment manufacturer based in the Netherlands. The company’s annual sales in 2018 were approximately US $45 million and the purchase is expected to close in the first quarter of 2019. Terms were not disclosed.
Dutch Power designs, manufactures and sells a variety of landscape and vegetation management machines and attachments under several different brand names including Herder, Conver, Roberine and Votex. Its Precision Makers business offers the Greenbot, an autonomous self-propelled machine designed for work in the horticulture, agriculture and municipal sectors. In January, the company signed an exclusive agreement with John Deere to develop autonomous mowing solutions for the golf and sports turf industry.
Dutch Power is majority owned by a private equity group based in the Netherlands and by Peter Mouthaan, the company’s managing director. Mouthaan will continue to run the company upon completion of the transaction, said Alamo Group.
“We are very pleased to have Dutch Power join the Alamo Group,” said Ron Robinson, president and Chief Executive Officer, Alamo Group, Seguin, Texas. “This is a mature, well-managed company with excellent products that complement Alamo’s existing lines of equipment. This acquisition enhances our platform for growth by increasing both our product portfolio and our capabilities in the European market.”
Alamo Group, quoted on the New York Stock Exchange, designs, manufactures and distributes a range of machinery, including the Gradall brand of excavators, a wide range of mowers for professional applications and vacuum trucks. It has approximately 3440 employees and operates 26 plants in North America, Europe, Australia and Brazil.
“The Dutch Power brands will benefit from the extensive Alamo Group network and this combination offers opportunities for accelerated growth,” Mouthaan said.
