Denver-based machine shop adds generations of expertise

Alliant Power has acquired Family Machine LLC’s Denver, Colo., operation to add machining expertise, specialized equipment and technical capabilities to Capital Reman Exchange and strengthen Alliant Power’s ability to deliver complete diesel solutions. Terms were not disclosed.

“This acquisition is about serving our customers better and faster,” said Houman “HK” Kashanipour, CEO of Alliant Power, based in Windsor, Wis. “Family Machine brings talented people, generations of machining expertise and specialized capabilities that strengthen Capital Reman Exchange and Alliant Power. Together, we are increasing capacity and technical depth while improving our ability to deliver the quality, reliability and responsiveness our customers count on.”

Capital Reman Exchange is a precision remanufacturer of medium- and heavy-duty diesel engines and components with more than 40 years of industry experience. Also headquartered in Denver, its operations include a full-service machine shop and specialized departments supporting engine builds and critical engine components. The company joined the Alliant Power family in January.

The relationship between Family Machine and Capital Reman Exchange spans more than 12 years. During that time, the businesses have supported one another as vendors, customers, industry peers and technical resources. Alliant said bringing the teams together will build on that trusted history and creates a stronger, more responsive remanufacturing operation.

“Family Machine and Capital Reman Exchange have worked together in nearly every way over the past 12 years - as vendors, customers, industry peers and resources for one another. Joining forces always felt natural. Today, we are gaining a trusted partner and nearly 60 years of machining knowledge that will be invaluable as we continue building the Alliant Power story,” saiod Brian Byrne of Capital Reman Exchange

The acquisition combines Family Machine’s machining knowledge, Capital Reman Exchange’s remanufacturing capabilities and Alliant Power’s diesel component portfolio and distribution network to support customers across the diesel lifecycle, from critical engine components to remanufactured long blocks.

The acquisition also brings together two legacies rooted in the diesel industry. As Alliant Power celebrates its 65th anniversary this year, Family Machine adds its own multigenerational history of precision, craftsmanship and lasting customer relationships.

Family Machine offers engine rebuilding and machining services, including cylinder head rebuilding, block machining, crankshaft and camshaft services, flywheel resurfacing, injector testing and rebuilding and fuel pump services.

“Built on my grandfather’s 1968 foundation of precision and pride, we are thrilled to join the Alliant Power family. Beginning this next chapter alongside our longtime friends at Capital Reman Exchange makes the opportunity for continued growth even more meaningful,” said Inessa Marini of Family Machine LLC.

Founded by Inessa’s grandfather, the business has continued across generations, with Inessa representing the third generation and her son carrying the family trade into its fourth generation.
