Burckhardt Compression received a 10-year service agreement covering nine liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers with the company’s Laby-GI Compressors on board.

The contract with BW LNG, part of global maritime company BW Group, incorporates a tailormade “Fleet Management Solution” which provides a total care package supported by the latest monitoring diagnostics, the companies said.

Burckhardt Compression said the contract marks a significant milestone in the company’s strategy to offer lifecycle solutions tailored to customer needs. The new long-term service agreement (LTSA) was developed together with the BW LNG experts to provide services on board that add value to the operation of the vessels, such as improved lifecycle costs, operational efficiency and accurate preventive maintenance, the company said.

“This LTSA is an important milestone for us. We are proud to provide not only strong compressor technology but also tailormade service solutions together with and for our partner BW LNG. We are confident that this arrangement will ensure safe and smooth operations for the vessels and their crews on board.” said Marcel Pawlicek, CEO, Burckhardt Compression.

The scope of the LTSA covers scheduled maintenance of the compressors, dedicated supervision, as well as preventive maintenance via remote diagnostics, field services, and fleet management over a period of 10 years. The Burckhardt Compression fleet manager will, together with technical experts, monitor the performance of the units and continuously optimize the maintenance cycles in line with the operational requirements of the crew. Compressor maintenance will be carried out during vessel operations for maximum efficiency. All nine LNG carriers are ME-GI powered and equipped with Laby-GI Compressors for BOG management.
