Cooler Filter Tank at Agritechnica

Premium Content

17 October 2019

Hydac will premiere at the Agritechnica show an all-in-one solution for a cooler filter tank (CFT) module; this is a function-integrated solution, patented by Hydac. The company said several customers already adopted this module.

The idea behind this new product is to offer a solution that saves space in mobile machines, where usually a standalone hydraulic tank and separate filter with their own cooling systems are used.

The module is designed and optimized by Hydac according to the application and customer’s needs. The process starts with a calculation of cooler performance, following the specification from the engine’s manufacturer and considering the space available in the customer’s application. When the cooler size is roughly defined, Hydac starts designing the hydraulic oil tank around the cooling elements; in this phase the company utilizes FEA for the analysis of the hydraulic tank and own-developed software tools to simulate the hydraulic flow and to define the penetration of air in the oil.

The simulation process allows to define the better filter concept, the ideal positioning of in- and outlet ports with breather and reduce the total hydraulic tank volume (depending on the application, this can reach up to 30/40% less volume).

The tank is made by PA6 plastic material and is produced with rotational molding process which gives a lot of flexibility in the design, so that the fan can be positioned most effectively even reducing noise level.

According to Hydac, CFT offers several advantages as for example increased cooling performances, easier service and maintenance, and a reduced assembly time in the customer’s production.

Hydac will exhibit at Agritechnica in Hall 17, booth H12
