Cummins-Meritor drivetrain concept for defense applications

Premium Content

Cummins Inc. plans to unveil its first drivetrain leveraging solutions from its Cummins-Meritor portfolio in booth #6619 at the 2024 Annual AUSA Conference in Washington, DC, October 9-11. The proof-of-concept drivetrain is engineered specifically for the demands of wheeled defense vehicles.

The drivetrain leverages the strengths of several existing product lines, Cummins noted, with the display featuring a Cummins L9 engine, Eaton-Cummins Endurant XD Pro transmission and Cummins-Meritor ProTec 4000 Series ISAS, ProTec 5000 Series tandem axles, RPL Drivelines and MTC-3208 transfer case.

The display will also include solutions from Cummins’ Engine business unit, including the Advance Combat Engine (ACE) and V903 engines, as well as the Power Generation business unit’s Tactical Energy Storage System (TESS).

Meritor Defense, now Cummins-Meritor, has a history of delivering drivetrain components to the defense market dating back to the early 1900s. Its portfolio of defense solutions has now been bolstered by the addition of the Cummins-Meritor ProTec brand of drivetrain components, said Jim Keane, Cummins Inc. Executive Director, Global Product Solutions for the Cummins-Meritor business unit.

“Combined with Cummins’ equally historic presence as the leading power supplier in the industry, we’re now able to offer our customers the most comprehensive portfolio of power generation and power distribution solutions available,” he added.
