EUTurbines picks new leadership team

Group represents Europe’s gas and steam turbine makers
The Board of EUTurbines, the European Association of Gas and Steam Turbine Manufacturers, has elected its new leadership team. Sven-Hendrik Wiers, from MAN Energy Solutions, has been unanimously elected as president of EUTurbines. The team is completed by Javier Cavada from Mitsubishi Power, Martin O’Neill from GE Power, and former President Thomas Thiemann from Siemens Energy.
As the newly elected President stated, the European turbine industry offers valuable technology to progress in the transition towards the decarbonization of the energy sector. To that end, he stressed the sector’s commitment to providing future-proof solutions, such as H2- Ready power plants or turbines that convert waste heat into valuable electricity. The new leadership team, consisting of very senior industry leaders, emphasized the role of turbine technology in ensuring a reliable climate-neutral electricity system by guaranteeing electricity and heat whenever renewables cannot meet demand.

EUTurbines is the only association of European gas and steam turbine manufacturers. Its members are Ansaldo Energia, Baker Hughes, GE Power, MAN Energy Solutions, Mitsubishi Power Europe, Siemens Energy and Solar Turbines. EUTurbines advocates an economic and legislative environment for European turbine manufacturers to develop and grow R&I and manufacturing in Europe and promotes the role of turbine-based power generation in a sustainable, decarbonized European and global energy mix.
