Iveco Bus has delivered two E-Way city buses to HZ Busar, part of the transport consortium which serves Torshavn, capital of the Faroe Islands.

The 10.7-metre buses are the first fully-electric models to operate on the islands. They join a fleet of 16 Crossway units which have been in service since late 2022.

The bus models delivered to HZ Busar feature 10 battery packs which have a total capacity of 420 kWh. This allows the buses to operate on a series of different routes.

The models can carry up to 60 passengers, with 23 seated.

“We have just taken delivery of two new E-Way buses, and it is a very special moment for us because they are the first electric buses on the islands,” said John Fonsdal, Public Transport manager at HZ Bussar “We are very excited to change over from diesel to zero-emission electric vehicles.”

The Faroe Islands are located in the North Atlantic ocean between the UK and Iceland.
