Kenworth Truck Co. today announced that Camionnage CP is the first company in Canada to order the zero emissions Kenworth T680E battery electric vehicle.

Kenworth T680E Camionnage CP will be the first company to use Kenworth’s T680E battery electric vehicle in Canada.

Camionnage CP is a transport, storage, distribution and fulfillment company serving the greater Montreal area. The Baie-D’Urfe, Quebec-based fleet will use the Kenworth T680E model in drayage operations to transfer goods from the Port of Montreal to area warehouses.

“Camionnage CP is committed to reducing our emissions and creating a more sustainable future for generations to come,” said Martin Moisan, Camionnage CP co-owner. “We’re proud to be an early adopter of the Kenworth T680E and look forward to operating battery electric vehicles that will help cut our carbon footprint.” The initial order is for one T680E.

Designed for pickup and delivery, regional haul and drayage applications, the T680E is available as a day cab as either a tractor or straight truck in a 6x4 axle configuration. The new model is offered in 54,000 lb. and 82,000 lb. gross vehicle weight ratings (GVWR).

The Kenworth T680E is equipped with 536 hp continuous power and up to 670 hp peak power and 1623 lb.ft. of torque and has a top speed of 70 mph. The Class 8 vehicle incorporates Meritor’s Blue Horizon 14Xe tandem electric powertrain with smooth shifting and operation.

“This is an important moment in Quebec as we move toward battery electric vehicles in the trucking industry,” said Mike Parent, general manager of selling dealer Kenworth Montreal in Saint-Laurent, Quebec. “We appreciate the leadership role of Camionnage CP in this effort.”
