New 6625 WBD transmission from Allison
29 January 2025

Allison has unveiled its new 6000 Series transmission for wide body dump trucks.
The 6625 WBD has been designed to meet the demands of harsh operating conditions, while helping to deliver improved efficiency and reduced total cost of ownership.
“The launch of the 6000 Series transmission in WBD trucks underscores Allison’s commitment to delivering specialized solutions to customers in China and the export markets they serve,” said Brian Geiselhart, executive director, Asia Pacific Sales.
He continued: The diversification of our portfolio supports Allison’s strategic growth initiative to increase our market share in off-highway applications outside North America.”
The 6625 WBD is based on the 6000 Off-Road Series transmissions, which have featured in mining trucks around the world.
Originally designed for heavy-duty vehicles including off-highway trucks, oil field rigs and cranes, this transmission now supports higher-tonnage WBD trucks, reaching a maximum gross vehicle weight (GVW) of up to 136 metric tons.
Features of the new transmission include Allison’s patented torque converter and Continuous Power Technology. The Shift Energy Management function protects the clutch and reduces shift shock.
Additionally, the unit features diagnostic capabilities which allow the driver to monitor unit status in real time.
