Hydrogen Outlook will be held at 9 a.m. CST Nov. 17 and will feature participants who deep practical insights into the use of hydrogen as a fuel.

With the ongoing effort to decarbonize energy, hydrogen is seen as an attractive alternative to hydrocarbon energy sources. But there are technical and economic challenges that must be addressed before hydrogen can become a widespread solution.

Tifenn Brandily

Tifenn Brandily is a senior associate at BloombergNEF based in London. He is part of BNEF’s energy economics team and specializes in power generation, storage and hydrogen technology costs as well as asset valuation. Tifenn manages BNEF’s levelized cost of electricity analysis, a bi-annual assessment of power costs involving more than twenty analysts globally. He is also responsible for delivering the economic analysis underpinning BNEF’s New Energy Outlook, a long-term forecast for the energy economy. His main areas of coverage include the economics of wind, solar, battery storage, hydrogen and gas peaking plants. Tifenn has a background in mechanical engineering and also holds an MSc.

Marko Dekena is the executive vice president of Global Sales, Product Line Management & Project Execution for INNIO Jenbacher.

Dekena joined INNIO Jenbacher in March 2021, bringing to the job more than 25 years of cross-functional international experience in the fields of power generation, marine/off-road equipment and commercial vehicles. Prior to his work at INNIO, he held several leadership roles at AVL in Austria, MAN Nutzfahrzeuge, MAN B&W Diesel (now MAN Energy Solutions) and AUDI in Germany.

Marko Dekena

He has a degree in mechanical engineering from the Technical University of Munich, Germany, and a doctorate from the RWTH Aachen, Germany.

Thomas Koeppe is head of Business Development and Innovation at Siemens Energy. Koeppe is responsible for business development and innovation including driving new business strategies, ideation & incubation of new solutions and business models as part of the energy market transition and decarbonization. He is the principal investigator for DE-FOA-0002332 - Clemson Hydrogen Combined Heat and Power Storage System.

Peter Hoeflich is the director of Generation Technology in Duke Energy’s Generation and Transmission Strategy Organization. In his role, he evaluates emerging generation and long duration storage technologies. Additionally, his group works with appropriate internal and external organizations to determine regulatory, policy, and business implications related to the potential implementation of these technologies.
