OHM 35 battery-electric LCV now available in UK and Ireland
21 April 2023
OHM Vehicles has unveiled a right-hand drive variant of its 3.5-tonne battery-electric light commercial chassis cab model at the recent Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham, UK.
Left-hand drive versions of the OHM 35 BEV were originally launched at the IAA Transportation show in 2022, but the model is now available with RHD for the UK and Ireland markets.
Established in 2021, OHM decribes itself as having no legacy systems or inherited work practises. This has given the company freedom to develop the 35 BEV from the ground up. Offering a payload capacity of up to two tonnes, the vehicle’s li-ion battery pack can deliver a range of up to 173 miles (280 km).
The drivetrain features electric motor and inverter technologies capable of delivering 3150 Nm of torque. Additionally, ‘intelligent energy conversion’ helps to maintain speed over longer distances.
A lightweight chassis and battery assembly has been specifically designed with body-builder flexibility in mind. This supports a series of possible end-user applications, including refuse collection, through to dry freight and ambient to temperature-controlled transport.
Connected onboard telematics continuously monitor vehicle performance, allowing remote diagnostics and preventative maintenance to reduce vehicle downtime. Fleet operators can monitor driver performance to help improve vehicle range and performance.
OHM is said to operate a ‘satellite’ manufacturing model, with vehicles being assembled in China before being finished by manufacturing partners in Europe. The company operates an R&D competence centre in Italy.
Vehicles will be imported into the UK and Ireland by Fapi Motors, part of Famalco Holdings. At the unveiling, the OHM 35 was described as being ‘ready to go to market’.
