Companies partner on aluminum-air backup power

Phinergy Ltd., a global specialist in aluminum-air energy technology, has partnered with Rosendin, a leading U.S. employee-owned electrical contracting company, to deliver a fossil-free alternative for on-premises, mission-critical and microgrid backup power.

Designed for megawatt-scale applications, the Phinergy Aluminum-Air Generator (AAG) uses aluminum metal as a clean, energy-dense “fuel” in place of fossil fuels to deliver zero-emission electricity. The partnership will bring this proprietary aluminum-air technology to the North American market, while leveraging Rosendin’s expertise in energy infrastructure and large-scale data center deployment and its trusted relationships with major data center operators.

Utilizing Rosendin’s experience in scaling new technologies, the companies will jointly introduce the AAG solution in the U.S. market to facilitate multi-day resilience for mission-critical operations; zero-emission, on-demand power aligned with ESG and net-zero goals; and scalable deployment for hyperscale data centers and advanced microgrids, the announcement stated.

“This collaboration with Rosendin marks a pivotal step in scaling Phinergy’s aluminum-air technology for the data center industry — one of the most demanding and fastest-growing energy markets,” said Emmanuel Levy, CEO of Phinergy. “Rosendin’s strong market presence and deep expertise in mission-critical infrastructure give us a clear path to scale and connect with the right customers. By joining forces, we’re not just replacing diesel, we’re setting a new benchmark for clean, resilient power in the AI era.”

Bill Mazzetti, SVP of Rosendin, said the company has spent the past six years examining on-premises power systems as alternates or enhancements to utility-provided power.

“Our clients simply need more power, and without it, development stops dead,” he pointed out. “This is a reply to the major expansion of data center and large loads, combined with a continuing demand for decarbonized power from owners and jurisdictions. The Phinergy AAG sits in a unique position to meet this need, and we’re thrilled to be their partner in the development and deployment of this solution.”
