New additions complete Hyundai range of B-X electric forklifts

Hyundai Material Handling has reported the addition of new 10-13 and 16-18 tonne models to its B-X electric forklift range.

The forklifts are intended for intensive operations needing higher lifting capacities.

The B-X program was launched in 2023 with the introduction of the 4-9 tonne models. Extending the range with the new machines, the company says that it has completed filling out the B-X lineup.

New additions include the 100B-X, 120B-X, 130B-X LC600, plus the 160B-X, 180B-X LC600.

Hyundai puts forward that while electrification is now well established across lower-capacity warehouse and industrial forklifts, electrifying these machines becomes more complex as lift capacities increase.

To address this, the company has used high-voltage battery architectures which range from 309-348 V in the 4-9 tonne models, and up to 618 V in the 10-18 tonne editions.

The higher operating voltage allows the forklifts to deliver the power levels needed for intensive handling operations, while reducing overall electrical current and heat generation, while improving efficiency.

Critical components are protected to IP67, while selected electronic systems use IP69K. Battery systems are liquid cooled with dedicated thermal management systems and integrated heating to maintain a consistent pack temperature.

Water-cooled permanent magnet motors and control systems are designed to deliver travel speeds, lift speeds and gradeability equivalent to diesel-powered models.

High-voltage architectures also support fast charging, which will support use of the new forklifts across extended operating hours.

The new electric machines can replace diesel power across a variety of industries, including forestry (timber), construction, manufacturing, dock-side and shipping operations.
