Power Briefing recap: week of Feb. 3

As we wrap up the first full week of February, here’s what you might have missed in Power Briefing:

  • Volvo Construction Equipment is putting customer feedback at the heart of its electrification efforts. At a recent event, the company highlighted how insights from equipment users are shaping its sustainable machine development.
  • A critical mining machine used by Montana Technological University’s underground mine training program is back in service thanks to support from Komatsu and Cummins. The companies provided a new engine and installation assistance, allowing hands-on training to resume.
  • Utah-based Q Hydrogen says it has found a cleaner way to produce hydrogen. The company’s “clear” hydrogen process is expected to generate up to 100,000 kg per day at its upcoming plant in New Hampshire.
  • Electrified Motors is taking a different approach to electrifying off-highway equipment. The company has focused on optimizing its electric motors to improve efficiency and reduce power demands, thus minimizing battery size.

In other news, All American Marine has partnered on a first-of-its-kind hybrid passenger vessel, Ricardo’s latest fuel cell stack has achieved a new high-power output milestone and Arrow Engine has been acquired by a new owner.
