Next week, we say goodbye to June. As summer heats up, so does the industry. For busy professionals like you, here’s what you might have missed in this week’s Power Briefing:

• The 2025 Engine Yearbook underscores that internal combustion isn’t going anywhere. According to the Engine Technology Forum, they are key to hybrid electric systems, which offer a bridge to emissions reductions in applications that can’t be fully electrified.
• At Bauma 2025, ABB introduced an inverter with a three-level topology designed for greater efficiency and smoother motor performance. The new topology reduces harmonic losses by up to 75 percent, which improves energy use and lowers operating temperatures.
• Propane autogas continues to gain traction, with its emissions benefits and versatility. At ACT Expo, the Propane Education & Research Council showcased some new technologies as well as propane-powered EV charging — a reminder that the fuel can also support electrification.
• Schaeffler’s motion portfolio includes traction drives and electromechanical actuators for construction equipment. But the company also focuses on improving IC-powered machines, using its core expertise in bearings to boost efficiency and cut emissions.

In other news, Volvo CE is leaving its SDLG joint venture, Fayat will acquire LeeBoy and Torc has established an engineering center in Michigan.
