Power Briefing recap, week of June 30
04 July 2025
It’s July already? Time flies when the power industry keeps on moving! If you were as busy this week as we were, here’s what you might have missed in Power Briefing:
- Despite its premium price, New Era Energy said fleets should reconsider using hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO). The fuel offers drop-in compatibility, lower emissions and biodegradability — positioning it as a premium fuel with operational and brand value.
- With rising demand for its gaseous-fueled engines, Zenith Power Products is expanding and preparing several new models. President Lee Oberto said the lineup will soon span 1.6 to 24L for a variety of applications.
- Speaking at a Mission Hydrogen webinar, Hexagon Purus Maritime discussed how commercial shipping could decarbonize with compressed hydrogen. This can be challenging due to vessel designs and duty cycles. The company also said that real change requires a shift in fueling mindsets.
- Mack’s new Pioneer truck nods to the company’s 125-year heritage of innovation while embracing the future, with new styling and interior amenities. At ACT Expo, the company also announced a forthcoming battery-electric (BE) version of the truck.
In other news, Rolls-Royce is investing in its Minnesota plant, 150 Oshkosh expeditionary vehicles will be going to the Netherlands and there’s a new off-highway THE transmission from Carraro.
