Sensata Technologies has introduced the ePM (electrostatic particulate matter) sensor, a real-time particulate matter (PM) monitoring solution designed to enable automotive and commercial vehicle OEMs to address increasingly stringent emissions monitoring requirements.
The ePM sensor is designed to support light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicle applications. Its electrostatic sensing capabilities enable reliable PM monitoring and detection of PM concentrations as low as 10 mg/mi.
Positioned downstream of the diesel particulate filter (DPF), the sensor provides continuous visibility into PM emissions and can identify DPF malfunction when particulate matter concentrations exceed monitoring thresholds. By providing faster response and continuous visibility into emissions, Sensata said the sensor equips OEMs to support evolving onboard diagnostics (OBD) requirements and emissions system diagnostics.
The tamper-resistant design helps to enable long-term system performance.
