Steering Computer
11 March 2019
Electronic components in construction vehicles and agricultural vehicles are often subject to tough requirements. ME Mobil Elektronik Gmbh has revised its safety steering computer for its EHLA steering systems for this extreme use.
Due to its ISO 26262-compliant development and new hardware and software architecture a high security level can be achieved, said the company, which is important for meeting upcoming increased safety requirements.
The housing has also undergone a redesign and has ingress protection with an IP6K9K rating. The company said that means engineers have flexible installation options – even outside the cab.
Steer-by-wire applications for front axle steering with approval for public road traffic can also be implemented with the safety steering computer.
There are three CAN interfaces available as well as a USB interface for diagnostics via the diagnostic tool PCSnext developed by the company. An integrated control panel for internal diagnostics is optional. This provides the steering system with a constant diagnostic capability, even if PCSnext is currently not available, which the company said can be a useful addition if the vehicles are operated far from truck repair shops.
Mobil Elektronik will have a stand at Bauma 2019 (Hall A3/Booth 115) where it said it will show its new safety steering computer as well as other solutions.
