Tamagawa adds IMUs for construction and ag

Tamagawa Seiki Co., Ltd., a manufacturer and supplier to automotive and industrial markets, has recently launched the TAG320 IMU series of tri-axis inertial measurement units (IMUs). The new IMUs are designed to enhance safety and precision in farming and construction equipment by detecting tilt angles and shocks. When paired with GNSS, they are said to enable accurate positioning, localization and dead reckoning, opening up possibilities for autonomous operation.

Tamagawa TAG320 IMU series The TAG320 IMU series includes standard and high-precision versions.

The TAG320 can also be used for other types of machinery, including logistics equipment such as factory AGVs and forklifts, light aircraft, drones, lawn mowing AGVs and leisure mobility equipment.

The new IMU series includes standard and high-precision versions. The data rate for three-axis angular velocity, three-axis acceleration (roll, pitch and yaw angles) is up to 1,000 Hz. Both versions have angular velocity specifications of +/- 200 degrees/s, with acceleration rates of +/- 4G for the standard version and +/- 6G for the high-precision option.

The unit requires a +8 to +32V DC power supply, with a CAN Standard + Extensions communications interface (CAN2.0B) provided. It measures 83 x 47.9 x 20 mm and is housed in an IP67-protected case with a temperature rating of -40 to 85 degrees C. An integral four-pin MAP MAF sensor connector and two-hole mounting ease installation, and a mating connector/cable assembly is available.

The TAG320 IMU series is available with full technical support from McIennan, Tamagawa’s UK distributor for industrial applications.
