Toro to acquire Left Hand Robotics

Acquisition of autonomous capabilities expected to advance Toro’s technology strategy.

The Toro Company has acquired Left Hand Robotics Inc. The acquisition was said to continue the company’s path toward its “leadership in next generation technologies, including alternative power, smart connected, and autonomous products.” Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Autonomous turf mower Left Hand Robotics’ RT-1000 is an autonomous “workbot” designed for commercial outdoor jobs such as turf care or snow removal, and can do the work by itself, day or night. It is powered by a gasoline engine that drive hydraulic pumps.

Based in Longmont, Colo., and founded in 2016, Left Hand Robotics has developed autonomous solutions for turf and snow management.

Its patent-pending software and advanced technologies for autonomous navigation are designed to provide professional contractors and grounds managers with future solutions to improve their operational efficiency and tackle outdoor tasks with precision, said Toro.
