Wabco In Export Deal With Tata Motors
16 July 2018
Wabco Holdings Inc. announced its first major steering system deal in India following its September 2017 acquisition of U.S.-based R.H. Sheppard, a supplier of steering technologies for commercial vehicles. The company said the supply agreement with Tata Motors is a milestone in delivering steering solutions to international customers.
As a full systems tier one supplier to Tata Motors, Wabco will equip the manufacturer with its hydraulic power steering systems to help them to meet an increased demand for new heavy-duty trucks following recent legislation changes to restrict axle weight loads. The company said it could draw on its global integrated supply chain and local engineering expertise to respond to Tata Motors’ requirements.
The M110 heavy-duty hydraulic power steering gears and assemblies meet Tata Motors’ power-steering performance and reliability requirements. M Series gears have been an industry design standard since 1986, said Wabco.
“We are delighted that the introduction of Wabco’s industry-leading steering systems for the first time in India further differentiates our strong partnership with Tata Motors, while helping them to meet this additional level of demand,” said P. Kaniappan, Wabco India managing director.
