France-based Clauger, a specialist in industrial air treatment and refrigeration, announced an agreement to acquire GEA’s refrigeration installation and service operations in Spain and Italy.

GEA Group is one of the largest global suppliers for the food and drink industries. The group also supplies centrifuges for applications in oil & gas and energy production and systems for cooling, refrigeration, oil treatment and freshwater production in the maritime industry.

Clauger is a family-owned enterprise founded in 1971, thus celebrating this year its 50th anniversary; it employs 1.600 people in 15 subsidiaries around the world and is active in more than 90 countries.

With this agreement, Clauger will have the ability to offer many new services and areas of expertise in the future, such as energy optimization and process, gas and efficiency projects. “This year Clauger is celebrating its 50th anniversary. At this important milestone for the company, the integration of new collaborators aligns completely with where we are today and where we’re going tomorrow,” said Frédéric Minssieux, CEO of Clauger. “It illustrates our desire to continue our development and internationalization. With this new challenge, Clauger will be able to count on experienced teams, well established locally, to jointly build the group’s future in Spain and Italy over the next 50 years.”

Both parties have agreed not to disclose the financial details of the transaction, which is still subject to customary closing conditions. Closing of the transaction is expected in autumn 2021.
