World premier for Daimler’s electric intercity bus

Daimler Buses announced the upcoming world premiere of the electrically powered Mercedes-Benz eIntouro intercity bus at Busworld Europe 2025, which will take place in Brussels, October 4-9, 2025. The company will be exhibiting a total of eight buses from Mercedes-Benz and Setra in its indoor stand, with three other Mercedes-Benz vehicles available outside, two of which are ready for test drives.

Based on the diesel-powered variant, the all-new eIntouro is equipped with a battery-electric drive utilizing lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and a central motor. Two lengths are available: the 12.18-meter eIntouro and the 13.09-meter eIntouro M. The fully electric vehicle allows for over-the-air software updates for the first time in a European bus, enabled through Daimler Buses’ Omniplus brand.

The NMC4, the fourth and latest battery generation, will be used in the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro, eCitaro G, eCitaro K and eCitaro fuel cell from 2026. To highlight this, Daimler Buses will exhibit an eCitaro equipped with the NMC4 batteries, which are capable of regular rapid charging up to a capacity of 300 kW. In addition, a cross-section from the current Setra intercity and touring coach range will be on display.

Daimler Buses will also introduce new services to extend the service life of electrically powered buses, including the reconditioning of bus batteries, and the expansion of its range in 2026 to include a battery replacement for the latest generation with a longer range. The new services will initially be offered for the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro city bus.
