Scania and snow groomer OEM Prinoth sign battery pack delivery agreement

Scania has signed a long-term agreement to supply Prinoth, an Italian manufacturer of snow equipment, with Core 800 batteries for its Husky E-Motion and Leitwolf E-Motion snow groomers.

“Collaborating with Prinoth is an exciting challenge for us, as it involves deploying our battery technology in extremely demanding conditions. Snow groomers operate in very low temperatures and steep terrain, moving heavy volumes of snow. This requires batteries that can deliver high power, withstand cold climates, and handle vibrations. We are proud that our technology has been recognised through this long-term agreement,” said Elin Åkerström, managing director, Scania Industrial Batteries.

Scania’s Core 800 is a lithium-ion battery pack with an installed capacity of 97 kWh. The modular design allows scalability and flexible installation. Maximum total capacity with multiple packs is 624 kWh.

The battery features liquid cooling and an advanced safety architecture based on a proprietary battery management system. This helps to ensure reliable operation, high performance and a long service life.

The Core 800 batteries have been used in the Husky E-Motion since 2023. Since then, the machines have been exported to various markets, including Norway, France, Italy, the UK and the United States.

The Leitwolf E-Motion is a more recent launch. This uses the Core 800 batteries in top and side orientations.
