Bramble Energy is a UK-based hydrogen technology development company. Key products include a hydrogen platform that uses printed circuit boards (PCBs) to deliver clean energy solutions, including PCB fuel cells and PCB electrolysers.

According to Tom Mason, CEO of Bramble Energy, adoption of hydrogen, including fuel cell deployment, has expanded “at an enormous rate” over 2024, with China taking a clear lead over Western nations.

Looking at the UK market, Mason noted that there have been no material changes and the country “still lacks a credible strategy for the implementation of hydrogen and other technologies to achieve true net zero.” He added that the country needs a strategic road map leveraging scalable hydrogen energy solutions.

Looking forward to 2025, Mason pointed out three key areas of development across the hydrogen energy landscape which deserved close observation.

Firstly, he expects the increasing number of large green hydrogen production projects in China to significantly add to the country’s H2 fuel capacity.

Secondly, Mason believes that one the most promising sectors for hydrogen power adoption in 2025 will be logistics operations, as the fuel will continue to support efficient goods transportation while not impacting vehicle uptime.

Lastly, he noted that funding for early-stage companies in the hydrogen energy sector presents “significant challenges”. Mason noted that he expects US policy on clean energy technologies to play a pivotal role in influencing how other international players plan to fund their own energy transition.

Mason did not mention the changes a Trump presidency might mean for the clean energy industry.

For its part, Mason stated that Bramble Energy will be targeting improved density and reduced cost with its tech – over 2024, the company reported it has halved fuel cell production costs.
