Deutz acquires 50% of HJS Emissions Technology
09 December 2024

German engine OEM Deutz has reported it has acquired 50% of HJS Emission Technology, an exhaust aftertreatment specialist.
The goal is to make on- and off-highway engines produced by Deutz cleaner and more efficient.
Based in Menden/Sauerland, Germany, HJS Emission Technology has a wealth of experience in development of systems for exhaust gas aftertreatment, particularly with diesel engines.
The supplier develops, manufactures and markets electrical and mechanical components intended to reduce pollutants in engine emissions.
The purchase is part of a consolidation plan for production of internal combustion engines at Deutz, which will now see it purchase and supplied with emissions control tech from within its own group.
“The combustion engine is not a discontinued technology. This is certainly true for applications where machines are constantly in use and move large loads. The technology will therefore continue to be of strategic importance to us in the future,” said Deutz CEO Dr. Sebastian C. Schulte.

He continued: “Resilience in the supply chains is correspondingly important to us. This is especially true for key components in the field of exhaust gas aftertreatment, which enables cleaner engines. HJS Emission Technology is a technology leader in this field, with whom we and other established companies have been working well for years.”
While Deutz will consolidate the company within its own group, HJS will continue with its existing management team.
