Hengst Filtration has shown a new range of fuel cell cathode air filtration units at Hannover Messe 2023.

The German company offers a series of fuel cell cathode filters, ranging from those intended for systems with an output of 10 to 120 kW, through to those for static power generation of 400 kW or more.

The latest cathode filtration system is intended for fuel cells in medium- to heavy-duty applications producing between 100 and 500 kW. This includes medium- and heavy-goods vehicles.

The units feature a multilayer filter structure, with each separate layer optimised for a specific filtration task. The units help to prevent particles and gases entering the fuel cell. This includes protecting the fuel cell membrane from sulfur and ammonia.

Modularisation of the units supports use across all related applications in any global region.

Preventing particulates and harmful gases from entering the fuel cell stack helps to ensure the highest efficiency and longer working life of the hardware.
