Mercedes-Benz Trucks has reported the company’s largest order to date for its e-trucks. The deal secured with online retail giant Amazon covers delivery of more than 200 examples of the eActros 600 battery-electric (BE) truck.

For its part, this is Amazon’s largest order of electric heavy goods vehicles.

The BE trucks are set to join the Amazon fleet over 2025. They will operate in Germany and the UK, delivering an estimated 350 million packages each year.

Karin Rådström, chairperson of the Board of Management at Daimler Truck said: “We are very pleased that Amazon, a pioneer in the transformation towards alternative drives, has chosen the eActros 600, a gamechanger for sustainable transportation.”

Andreas Marschner, VP of Worldwide Operations Sustainability at Amazon, commented: “The order of more than 200 eActros 600 underlines our commitment to being a leader in electrifying our transportation network in Europe.”

Marschner added that the order would help Amazon fulfil its goal of being a net-zero company by 2040.

More specifically, the trucks will be deployed across high-mileage routes which make up Amazon’s middle-mile network, transporting cargo containers between the company’s fulfilment, sorting and delivery stations. About 140 trucks will be assigned to the UK, while 50 will be operating in Germany.

The order follows completion of practical testing of a near-series prototype eActros 600 at an Amazon logistics centre in Germany.

The eActros 600 has onboard battery capacity for about 600 kWh of power. This drives a new and efficient e-axle, developed by Mercedes-Benz Trucks. The truck can deliver approx. 500 km (310 miles) on a full charge with a GVW of 40 tons.

Recharging during statutory driver breaks, even without megawatt charging, can see the eActros 600 achieve a daily driving range of 1,000 km (620 miles).

The eActros 600 has been in production at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Wörth am Rhein since the end of 2024.
