B&W Sale Includes B&W Universal
30 July 2018
German industrial conglomerate Dürr announced that its U.S. subsidiary, Dürr Inc., it is acquiring 100 % of the shares in three industrial environmental technology businesses of Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises, Inc. The sale includes Babcock & Wilcox Universal Inc., a manufacturer of custom-engineered acoustic, emissions control and filtration solutions to the natural gas power generation, midstream natural gas pipeline, locomotive and general industrial end markets.
The purchase price is being calculated based on the enterprise value of the three B&W companies, which amounts to around € 110 million, Dürr said. Subject to the satisfaction of usual antitrust closing conditions and regulatory approvals, closing is expected in the third quarter.
Also included in the deal are Babcock & Wilcox MEGTEC LLC, Babcock & Wilcox MEGTEC Holdings Inc. MEGTEC offers exhaust air purification systems, as well as dryers and coating systems for the production of lithium-ion-battery electrodes. Dürr said all of the B&W operations will become part of its Clean Technology Systems division.
B&W Universal became part of B&W in early 2017 after B&W bought Stoughton, Wisconsin, U.S.A-based Acoustic & Emission Technologies, Inc. for approximately $55 million.
Headquartered in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany, Dürr is a global mechanical and plant engineering company that operates five divisions, including Clean Technology Systems that manufacture exhaust air purification systems and energy efficiency technology for a variety of industries.
