Premium Content

Mining company Boliden has purchased a Scania electric truck for moving heavy loads. The new truck, which will have a GVW of 74 tonnes, will be delivered in Q2 2022.

The truck, which will be operated by haulage company Renfors Åkeri AB, will be used on a 30 km route on public roads near the mine in northern Sweden.

The battery-electric vehicle will play a part in Boliden’s goal of decreasing CO2 emissions by 40% by 2030.

”To try an electrified solution for very heavy vehicles at an early stage and contribute to the development and transition to sustainable solutions are very much in line with our agenda,” said Jonas Ranggård, program manager, Boliden.

“The electrified Scania truck will reduce emissions in one of the most important flows in our operations and further strengthen our high climate performance,” he added.

The electric truck features a series of current technologies, but with stronger components. The truck was brough to market in a development time of just 24 months.
