Cummins introduces S17 Centum gen set
07 July 2025

Cummins Power Generation has added to its range of Centum Series gen sets with the introduction of the new S17 Centum.
As the name implies, the new 60 Hz gen set features a 17-liter engine that can deliver up to 1 MW of peak power (power range from 600 to 1,000 kW, 750 to 1,250 kVA).
Assembled by Cummins, the S17 has undergone more than 25,000 hours of testing and validation.
Intended for standby power applications, the new gen set is ideal for commercial properties, healthcare facilities and water treatment plants. The unit has a compact footprint which makes it ideal for urban locations where space is limited.
Rated for EPA Tier 2, the dual-turbo engine in the S17 can also use HVO/renewable diesel to help reduce emissions.
“Cummins engineering is committed to designing sustainable power solutions for our customers. We continue the expansion of the Centum product line to deliver increased power in a smaller space, and with seamless site integration. The S17 is engineered to redefine what you expect from an emergency standby package,” said Emily Scheuerell, Cummins Power Generation Global Engineering leader.
In addition, the S17 is said to offer a lower total cost of ownership. The gen set has been designed to reduce both upfront and overall operating expenses that are supported by extended service intervals. The lightweight, compact design is also said to reduce transportation costs.
The new model comes with a three-year warranty which is backed by Cummins’ dealer network.
