Company joining forces with India’s IPRL

Emissions control company Eminox is establishing a new facility in Chennai, India.

It follows news that it is joining forces with IP Rings Limited (IPRL) which is part of the Amalgamations Group, a player in the Indian automotive, agriculture and power generation components and equipment markets.

Ram Venkataramani, managing director IP Rings Ltd, and Mark Runciman, managing director Eminox Ltd, signed Heads of Terms this month.

“As part of its long-term growth and global diversification strategy, Eminox will work with IPRL to establish an Innovation and Technology Centre based in Chennai.

Eminox designs and makes exhaust and emissions control systems for heavy-duty vehicles and equipment

“The combined engineering team will design and develop complete exhaust aftertreatment systems (EATS), to cost-effectively meet the Indian TREM V off-highway & BSVI stage-2 on-highway emissions standard, which comes into effect from April 2024 and April 2022 respectively.

“We have very ambitious plans with IPRL to develop and supply EATS for a range of diesel and CNG engines used in off-road and on-road across the Indian market. Furthermore, it is an absolute privilege to be working with a key member company of the Amalgamations group,” said Jog Lall, OE Sales and Marketing director, Eminox.

The equivalent of the European Stage 5 regulation, TREM V mandates stricter emissions control of particulate matter (PM), particulate number (PN), nitrogen oxides (NOx), hydrocarbon (HC), and carbon monoxide (CO) from off-highway applications including agricultural machinery, construction equipment and generators.

“Through the collaboration Eminox will bring its world-leading capabilities in emissions control solutions to the Indian market, while IPRL’s extensive market presence and expertise will facilitate local opportunities.

“IPRL started it’s journey into the EATS market just over a year ago and has been strengthening its engineering capability in this domain, knowing the challenges that lay ahead with upcoming emissions legislation.

“Working alongside Eminox will help accelerate our product portfolio development” enabling a “Atmanirbhar Bharat” (self-reliant India) remarked Meenakshi Sundaram, chief technical officer of Amalgamations Components Group.

IPRL was established in 1991 and specialises in the manufacture of piston rings for high performance low emission engines and superior transmission gears. The Amalgamations Group operates across the farm equipment, automotive component, parts distribution, and allied engineering fields. As well as IPRL, it includes Simpsons & Co, TAFE (Tractors and Farm Equipment), India Pistons Ltd, Amco Batteries and TAFE Access.

Eminox was established in 1978, with its head office and manufacturing facilities in Lincolnshire, UK and Shanghai, China. It designs and makes exhaust and emissions control systems for heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.

It supplies bus, truck, non-road mobile machinery, marine and rail manufacturers globally, as well as being the major European supplier of emissions control exhaust systems for retrofit to vehicles already in service.
