Penray Inc. has introduced a new additive for extended life coolants (ELCs) used in marine and heavy-duty commercial applications. Pencool 4000 can be used as a water-only ELC corrosion inhibitor for marine engine cooling systems. It has also been specifically formulated for nitrite-free ELCs in heavy-duty commercial applications such as trucks and off-highway equipment.

The new additive blend is compatible with all ELCs, including organic acid technology (OAT) and nitrited organic acid technology (NOAT) coolants, Penray said. In addition, the Pencool 4000 additive is engineered to significantly inhibit corrosion to enhance and maintain coolant service life and effectiveness.

Pencool 4000 is nitrite-free, and provides protection to all metals typically wetted by coolant, including steel, cast iron, copper and aluminum, as well as seals and elastomers found in cooling system hoses, Penray said. It also contains special additives designed to protect against wet sleeve liner pitting and helps reduce cavitation erosion, which can compromise cooling system efficiency and cause hot spots resulting in engine damage.

Pencool 4000 is available in 16 oz., as well as in 5.0 gal. pails and 55 gal. drums.
