Generac further expands U.S. manufacturing footprint

Generac Holdings Inc., a global designer, manufacturer and provider of energy technology solutions and other power products, announced the acquisition of a new U.S. manufacturing facility in Sussex, Wis. According to the company, this facility will enable it to expand its manufacturing footprint for its Commercial & Industrial (C&I) products, which have delivered strong year-over-year growth in recent quarters.

The addition of large-megawatt generators to Generac’s global product portfolio has facilitated the company’s entry into the rapidly growing data center market. Since expanding the product lineup, the company has experienced significant customer interest from data centers, including the doubling of its order backlog as disclosed on the company’s third quarter earnings call in October.

“With global demand for data center capacity projected to more than triple by 2030 (per McKinsey & Co.), the rapid expansion of data centers is creating unprecedented demand for reliable and scalable power solutions,” said Aaron Jagdfeld, Generac president and CEO. “Our commitment to aggressively invest in serving this booming segment offers a generational opportunity for Generac, with the potential of doubling our sales of C&I products in the next three to five years.”

The Sussex facility joins Generac’s new state-of-the-art plant in Beaver Dam, Wis., and its expanded operations in Oshkosh, Wis., as part of the company’s ongoing investment in scaling capacity for C&I products to meet growing data center demand. The additional capacity will also allow Generac to better serve existing backup power verticals, including healthcare, hospitality, wastewater, water utility and heavy industrial plants, which also require large-megawatt power generation.

“This new facility expands our manufacturing capacity and operational flexibility, enabling us to support all our customers’ needs while continuing to fuel the growth of our Commercial & Industrial business,” Jagdfeld stated.

The Sussex facility will add over 100 new manufacturing positions when it opens in the fourth quarter of 2026.
