Japan Engine Corporation, or J-ENG, is to open a subsidiary in Shanghai, China, to support local customers.

The new unit will offer a range of support functions, including technical assistance and aftersales services, including vessel visits to those ships fitted with UE engines. There will also be a parts supply department, together with support for domestic ship owners and licensees.

The new subsidiary will be named Japan Engine Corporation (Shanghai) and will be located in the Changning district.

The opening of the new subsidiary coincides with the biennal Marintec China trade show. Under the theme of ‘Innovation and Collaboration for Maritime Sustainability’, J-ENG will show its UEC50LSJA ammonia-fuel engine and the UEC35LSGH, which uses hydrogen fuel.

J-ENG will also present the latest addition to the UEC-LSH series, the UEC60LSH.
